About Matt

I’m a Holistic Medicine practitioner based in Southampton, UK, specialising in Tui Na massage and Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. My approach is rooted in the classical wisdom of the Daoist arts, which offer a profound understanding of how the mind, body, and environment are interconnected.
From an early age, I’ve been fascinated by how everything is linked—and nowhere is this more evident than in medicine. My training at the Xian Tian College of Chinese Medicine was deeply transformative. It gave me a rich, comprehensive model for understanding how these ancient healing arts can support modern health challenges—whether it’s chronic pain, digestive issues, insomnia, or other conditions.
In treatments, I may also incorporate Moxibustion (Moxa), Cupping therapy, or Gua Sha, depending on your needs and preferences. Every session is tailored to support your unique path to healing.
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to Kāng Dào (康道), which I interpret as “a natural path to contented wellbeing.” My aim is to help guide you toward balance, resilience, and deeper self-awareness—using time-tested tools that honour both tradition and individual experience.
The Meaning of 康道 (Kāng Dào)

Kāng Dào is more than a name—it’s a guiding principle. In Chinese, the characters 康 (kāng) and 道 (dào) come together to express something deeply resonant:
- 康 (kāng) implies health, ease, and peace in the body. It evokes not just the absence of illness, but the presence of harmony—a quiet, steady vitality.
- 道 (dào) is the way, the path, the natural unfolding of life. It speaks to something both ancient and alive, a principle that flows through all things without force.
Together, 康道 invites a return to what is essential: a path of healing that follows nature rather than fights it. In the context of Chinese medicine and holistic therapies, this means working with the body, not against it. It’s about restoring balance, listening inward, and allowing wellness to emerge in its own time, like the seasons.
This philosophy underpins every treatment I offer—whether through Tui Na massage, acupuncture, or traditional techniques like moxibustion and cupping. Each session is a step along your own Kāng Dào: a natural path to sustained and embodied wellbeing.
